The final day of Bakers is 150 miles to Thomas and Ashley’s house in Richmond, VA. By now every team knows the score. The bikes have been battle hardened or dnf-ed. Teams knew how to navigate, and knew how to just get on. It was a race still for the pride of being the first over the line but team T3 had a fairly commanding lead so unless they had a major failure it was a lock. Second place overall was much closer. Team Clark, Chad Burke, and QCB had 30 minutes separating them. This was the actual race today.
But the race was pretty strait forward. I didn’t read about or hear any issues that crept up, just smooth miles for everyone. So here are the days times:
Added all up, the winners for 2021 Bakers Dozen Run are Team T3: The Resurrection, Tyler Brekke, Tyler Rosonke, and Travis King with a total time of 29 hours and 56 minutes. Second place goes to the solo rider Jose Castanon of Team Asian Amigos with a time of 35 hours and 12 minutes. Third place goes to remaining QCB Bye Bike with a time of 35 hours and 56 minutes. A special Spirit Award was presented to Jordan Melville for being just the best as decided by the official BDR award deciding team. I’ll give a special shoutout to weld wizard Jake Cain for creating custom trophies for all the winners.
Oh also a special shout out to all the folks driving chase, organizing, and hosting the event. It takes a lot of people to put on an event like this and it’s one of the most special things in the moped scene. This might be the end of this year, barring any more world pandemics, there will be another one next year. So if any readers out there think there are ready give it a go next year, I’m rooting for you. And remember, never DNF.
